What this quote is trying to say is that you must always be honest with everyone no matter what. Honesty is what shows who you are as a person. You should always keep your word. Being honest is easier than lying. You will feel good. Have you ever lied and felt nothing but guilt? That feeling is the worse because it’s always going to haunt you. You should always hurt people with the truth and never with a lie.  So if you can’t keep a promise don’t even put anyone’s hopes up. You cannot make a promise on something that you are not in control of. Keeping promises is very important because it is a basis of trust. Keeping our word is essential if we want to be a person of integrity. You should never let anyone down after you’ve made a promise. You should always try your hardest and you’ll see how good you’ll feel when you do good.
